Reliance To Build India’s Own Alexa by acquiring HAPTIK

A source close to the development told Inc42 that Reliance Jio is planning to build India’s Own conversational platform on the lines of Amazon’s Alexa .

 

For this Reliance Jio tends to acquire HAPTIK, Chatbot Maker , for over INR 200 crore, by this week.

 

Haptik , having major investors as Time Internet and Kalaari Capital , is employed with $11.2 Mn capital.

Haptik was founded by Aakrit Vaish and Swapan Rajdev in 2013.

 

This app enables it’s customers to chat with voice assistant for daily routine tasks like online shopping, online food ordering, travel bookings and etc.


The attractive feature of Haptik is that it is 100% customised app and provided in house customisation by professional services team.

Company earns the experience of working with Samsung, Future Group, OYO and KFC.

It has been expanded to UK and US and now heading to focus on English Speaking marketing in following years.


Haptik booked a revenue of INR 4.58 crores in FY18 that is approximately 189% increased from FY17.


Company document assessed by Inc42, shows that Haptik’s founders and Reliance Jio services Ltd. have signed the Business Transfer Agreement.

  •  In 2018, Jio Music was merged with Saavn at a combined valuation of $1Bn.

 

  • This february, Reliance witnessed one more acquisition with vernacular language technology development company, Reverie at INR 190cr.

 

  • And now the acquisition of Chatbot Maker, Haptik , at INR 200cr.,to compete with Amazon’s Alexa!

 

This surely marks the Reliance’s straight forward intentions to rule over the Indian internet Market.
