The new reservation policy of the Modi Government is aimed at benefiting the middle class segment of society which covers around 80% of the India’s population.

BJP tries its best before four months of General Elections to make major proportion of the India’s population by its side by declaring the GENERAL QUOTA RESERVATION .

It is the tireless efforts of BJP government to get the support of general castes in upcoming elections.

Politicalwatchers believe that general castes had drifted from the party ,following its aggressive push to win over this time backward classes, Dalits or Muslims.

So this Elections the target voters for the BJP is supposed to be the general category.

The general quota reservation system or upper caste reservation bill is passed in the both HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT is now ready to implement from this Academic Year ,

According to which there will be a reservation grant of 10% in Government Jobs and Education to Economically Weaker Section (EWS).

This is for the first time in India to implement a non-caste and a non- religion based Reservation.

WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA ?

The reservation is geared for economically deprived sections among general category whose family income is less than RS. 8,00,000 and who owns agricultural lands below five acres.

But if you fall in any of the following categories , then you may be deprived from this benefit ;

1. People having residential plot of more than 1,000 sq.ft.

2.People owning a residential plot of over 100 sq. yards in a notified municipality.

3. People owning a residential plot of over 200 sq. yards in non-notified areas.

4. Those already getting some benefits under any reservation.

WHY THE BILL HAS INITIATED?

At present the general category or EWS have largely remained deprived of the higher educational institutions and public employment on account of their financial incapability to compete with the economically privileged person or with those who are given reservation on caste or religion based.

So in this way the Constitution‘s article of Discrimination and Equal Opportunity does not apply to them.

So therefore, it proposes to amend the Constitution to ensure that EWS gets a “FAIR CHANCE” in life.

STILL IT IS CONSIDERED TO BE A BJP TACTICS TO ATTAIN MAJORITY IN ELECTIONS BUT AS FAR AS GENERAL PUBLIC INTEREST IS BENEFITTED IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A GREAT INITIATIVE BY THE GOVERNMENT !!
