Warren Buffet ;Sharing some Success Tips
By SK Kapoor.
“Warren Buffet says improving this one simple skill will separate you from everyone else and increase your worth .”
22-year old Michael Hood , the co-founder of the Toronto based startup Voiceflow asked the question to Warren Buffett :
“So, you are talking to people that are 21, 22 , just graduating school. What is the one tip that you can give them ?”
Warren Buffet replied,:
“Invest in yourself. The one easy way to become worth 50 % more than you are now atleast is to hone your communication skills- both written and verbal. If you can’t communicate , it’s like winking at a girl in the dark- nothing happens. You can have all the brainpower in the world, but you have to be able to transmit it and the transmission is communication.”
This billionaire publicly admitted that during high school and college he was terrified of public speaking.
He tried various alternatives to boost his public speaking but after taking a public speaking course at Date Carnegie , he said , it changed his life.
It’s not that only oral communication is important , though written communication is also very essential from the point of view of overall personality development.
Ticket to success may be in your Written Communication
Warren Buffett put emphasis on polishing both written and oral communication skill.
“he said, if you don’t put much stock into raising your capacity to write well , it may be the secret to success”.
According to an article in Entrepreneur, the National Commission on Writing found that nearly half of businesses surveyed pay for writing training programs for “ salaried employees with writing inefficiencies”.
This report put light on the immense need for effective written communication in the organisation.
Bob Kerrey , chairman of Commission , said,
“Writing is a marker of high- skill , high wage , professional work. People who are unable to express themselves clearly in writing limit their opportunities for professional , salaried employment.”
